FAQs
Do I need a prescription, script or physician's referral?
The good news is New Jersey is known as a direct access state! This means you can be seen by a physical therapist without needing a prescription or referral from a doctor. This is great because you can call us to make an appointment today.
Having quick and easy access to a physical therapist can make a difference between having a short-term (acute) ailment versus a long term (chronic) ailment.
I encourage you to call us immediately if you experienced an injury, have a problem you want to be solved, are tired of dealing with pain that you thought would just go away with rest, or have an upcoming event that you don’t think you’ll be able to do without having to fight through pain/discomfort.
Can I book an appointment online?
We recommend that you set up a phone conference with one of our physical therapists. During this call they will get to know you and see if we can help you prior to coming in. If during the call we feel as though physical therapy will benefit you, we will go over the details of your first visit, what to expect, and how we can help you.
Do you accept Walk-ins?
At Achieve Physical Therapy we cannot accommodate walk-ins due to the one-on-one nature of our clinic. However, there is good news! We can usually have appointments available the same day or within 24 hours of your phone call.
What can I expect from my visit?
Every one of our patients is a unique individual with their own story. We address the whole body, not just the part that hurts or bothers you. We aim to understand exactly what is going on with the body, the root cause if you will. Most times the pain is not the cause of the underlying issue. Pain is the body’s request for change and to be “fixed”. You will be prescribed a treatment plan that will benefit your individual needs and goals and will help you return to your active life as soon as possible.
What should I wear?
For physical therapy it is important for the physical therapist to have access to visibly examine, palpate and treat your body, muscles, tissues, and joints. You should bring with you a pair of loose comfortable shorts or pants and female patients should bring a sleeveless shirt or tank top.
How long does it take to see results?
Physical Therapy is not a “quick fix” and you should expect to have to put in some work. However, many of our patients start to feel relief and changes within the first few visits. Our patients are typically seen once a week for about 8 weeks. We typically work with a patient from anywhere between 5-10 visits. Significant results are usually seen within 3-5 visits. It is impossible to tell you exactly how many sessions you will need until we see you in person. That is why we offer a FREE TOTAL BODY ASSESSMENT, so you can get an understanding of what is going on and how long it may take to fix your issue before you commit to being our patient.
The method of our treatment process consists of the first few visits getting you out of pain or discomfort. The next step is to fix the underlying issue. Finally, we work to create resilience and promote independence so that if this every does “flair up” again you will have the tools you need to help yourself.
How much does physical therapy cost?
Since it is hard to tell how many visits you may need without seeing you, after your physical therapist prescribes your plan of care, they will then discuss pricing and options.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand life happens and plans change. If that happens simply just give us a call 24 hours in advance of your appointment and no cancellation fee will be applied. If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment or don’t show up the charge will be the fee of your session and is non-refundable.
